Privacy Policy

Desi Closet is a small, local community project. We collect only what we need to rent you an outfit and get it to you, we never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.
What we collect
When you reserve an outfit, we ask for your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, plus anything you choose to write in the note. We keep these together with your booking: the outfits, your rental dates, the amount due and any promo code you used.
When you use the contact form, we receive your name, phone number, email address and your message.
When you message us on WhatsApp or Instagram, those conversations are handled by those services under their own privacy policies.
When you browse the site, we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from (country and the website that linked here), and what kind of device and browser they use. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect your name, email or IP address in a way that identifies you, and does not follow you across other websites. We don't record what you type into the shop's search box. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, you are not counted at all.
How we use it
- To hold your outfit, arrange delivery and pickup, and match your payment to your booking.
- To email you about your booking: payment instructions, confirmation and any changes.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To keep simple records of past rentals, which may include notes that help us serve you (for example, sizes that worked well).
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
Payments
Payments are made through Venmo. We see the payment in our Venmo account, but we never see or store your bank or card details.
Who else handles your information
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. It passes through a few services that help us run the site, only for the purposes above:
- Netlify, which hosts the website and stores booking records and contact form messages.
- Resend, which sends our booking emails.
- Venmo, for payments.
- Umami, for the anonymous visit counts described above.
Information stored in your browser
The site keeps your cart (the outfits and rental dates you picked) in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back, and briefly keeps your booking reference and amount due in that tab so the confirmation page can show them. None of this is sent to us except when you submit a reservation, and you can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site data. The site itself sets no cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and customer records for as long as we need them to run the shop and keep accurate records of our rentals. You can ask us to delete your information at any time; we'll do so unless we still need it for a booking that's in progress.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@desicloset.store.
Children
Our outfits are for children, but this site is meant for parents and guardians. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us their information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
